BLF is a rapidly growing Plaintiff’s Personal Injury practice located in Century City, CA. We are passionate about fighting on behalf of individuals against large firms and companies, and believe in helping those who cannot help themselves.
We are currently looking for a Legal Assistant to support our Litigation Supervising Attorney. You will be supporting the Attorney in all aspects of case management to ensure efficient, timely and quality-driven service to our clients.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Assist in editing drop letters
- Assist with editing letters to MIA clients
- Process LOE’s and LOP’s for case managers
- Respond to and support case management when the supervising attorney is not available.
- Scanning, filing and organizing documents for attorney
- Assist with SOL filings
- Research and investigation of court rules and policies
- Run reports and keep attorney advised of variety of KPI data, including 180 day SOL reports and Filevine status reports
- Minors Compromise: learn and be responsible for all support tasks and functions, including: calendar hearing dates, sign up for remote hearings, detailed communication with parents of minor to keep them informed throughout entire process, coordinating with bank regarding funds, filing MC documents, requesting extensions as needed, creating databases of courts, monitoring court schedules, requesting documents, fixing rejected documents and re-filing, monitoring probate notes, prepare amended petitions, creating & assembling exhibits for MC’s, and other tasks as needed
- Perform a variety of administrative tasks such as answering phones, setting up for meetings/lunches/etc, and other tasks as needed
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS
- Strong clerical skills with attention to detail
- Knowledge of MS Office
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management skills
- Highly organized
- Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
- Knowledge of legal terminology and procedures
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Fluent in Spanish and English
- Minimum 1 year experience as a PI legal assistant
- Able to sit and stand for extended periods of time
- Able to lift up to 35 pounds
